G. L. Pease's Chelsea Morning is comprised of sweet Red and Bright Virginias, fragrant Orientals, a bit of rich Cyprus Latakia, and just a pinch of Perique. The leaf is blended in layers, briefly pressed, then sliced and tumbled into ribbons. Lively and engaging, with a subtle fruitiness, and an elegant, creamy texture, it's a great bowl to accompany the morning cup.

This rivals Early Morning Pipe. Smooth and gentle. A great way to start the day.

My opinion of Chelsea Morning

I am a new pipe smoker so I am firmly in the discovery phase. I started with Peterson’s My Mixture 965 and Maltese Falcon. I then tried Virginia Cream, Chelsea Morning and Orlik Golden Sliced. So far the 965 has become the one I favor out of all of these. Chelsea Morning is a good quality blend with a good English flavor but is noticeably lighter than 965. I can see how many would like it in the morning with a cup of coffee. Chelsea Morning, though good, taught me I prefer the more full-bodied blends like 965. I don’t know much about pipe smoking yet. But I do know that each blend (or pipe) I try is another step in the journey. Where I will end up I do not yet know, but I sure am enjoying it. If you are looking for an English blend on the lighter side but still with noticeable flavor, Chelsea Morning is worth trying!
